AmaTolo - a Journey after the Dawn
The East Coast is always represented, erroneously, by tribes like AmaXhosa, AmaMpondo, AmaZulu, etc with a deafening silence on the existence of other tribes and clans.
This book, therefore, traces the genesis of this tribe from the West African dispensation of Abantu to the different tribes that occupied the southern Africa.
This is the story of AmaTolo - a tribe from the South East Coast of Africa. This is a journey (for every Tolo) that attempts to reconcile the different views with a realistic interpretation.
This book is a product of discussion with young and elderly Tolo statesmen. We have spoken to persons of royalty, friends, students, as well as consulting written text from copies as early as the 17th century.
It remains true that, ungaze ulibale apho uvela khona (you must never forget where you come from).
Ungubani? Lapho uvela khona kuyasiza ukuthi sikwazi okumele. (Your history allows us to know what you stand for.
